Sharing a sneak peek into notebooking with Apologia. Including why you should consider it, what notebooking has to offer your children, and how you can use notebooking journals from Apologia in your homeschool.
*I was compensated for this post, but all opinions are my own. *
When I first began homeschooling, I had NO idea what notebooking was. As I continued, I began to find it intriguing, but still thought it was too much for me and my kids.
Then, we decided to try out Apologia Science, I saw that they also offered notebooking journals for kids. I figured what would it hurt? So, we gave them a try!
Six years later, we are still using Apologia, and I now see the HUGE benefit notebooking with Apologia offers our kids.
Apologia Science is Great for a Variety of Learners
I have three kids, and each child learns in a different way. Our notebooking journals from Apologia have reinforced this observation.
When I skim through the kid’s notebooks, I see one child has drawn what she learned. One has written it all out. Why is this? They learn differently. Yet, thanks to the notebooking journals, they are still learning.
Choosing a curriculum that fits each child’s needs is hard. However, notebooking journals from Apologia is one resource that I can use with ALL of my kids at the same time.
Notebooking with Apologia is More than Just Busy Work
When I first heard of notebooking, I figured it was “busy work”. But, notebooking is SO much more than that. It encourages our children to read, explore, and pursue their interests. The notebooking journals engage them in their learning, which means they retain the information longer. They encourage them to look through the text they just read to find the answers to the questions. They encourage them to take notes, diagram, study vocabulary and dive into the topic at hand.
It’s a RECORD of Your Child’s Work
When my kids complete a page or two in their notebooking journals they want to show me, their dad, and their grandparents. Years later, our kids still show off their notebooking journals. They are a tangible record of what our students have learned. They allow our kids to be creative and allow our children to lead their learning, NOT me. I allow the kids to fill out what they want to in their journals. The learning is in their hands. They like having a sense of control over what they do, and I like that they are able to work on what interests them.
They Allow Your Child to Work Independently
One HUGE benefit of the notebooking journals from Apologia is the schedule they offer in the front of the journals. This schedule lays out exactly what your child needs to do each day to complete the textbook in one school year. I let my kids pick and choose what they do, and I love that there is so much to offer that they kids CAN choose what interests them without feeling like they miss out on anything important. This encourages independence and allows me to work with another child who may need me.
If you have considered Apologia Science, I encourage you to grab the notebooking journals to go along with the textbooks. They are a great way to enhance learning for your children. If you are in the market for a great science curriculum, check out Apologia! They have been a huge asset to our homeschool, and I can’t imagine homeschooling without it!
I filmed a sneak peek into each of the notebooking journals from Apologia. Be sure to check it out to see just what all the fuss is about!
