I am going to take some mom time. Some may call that selfish, but I call it important. As moms I feel that too often times we pour everything into our kids, our homes, and our families, leaving little to no time for ourselves. But we are also individuals.
Moms, I want you to think back to the last time you did something for yourself. What was it? Do you remember when it was? If I had to guess, it’s been awhile!
As moms I feel that too often times we pour everything into our kids, our homes, and our families, leaving little to no time for ourselves. We justify it by stating the fact that we are serving others. We are fulfilling our roles as mother, wife, and homemaker. But, we are also individuals. We have dreams and needs and desires. And when we constantly put ourselves on the back burner we tend to lose our joy.
So, what do we need to do?
Take some mom time! Every year I let myself attend a blog conference. It costs time, money, and I feel a little guilty leaving my kids. However, each year, I head out to this conference, tired, depleted, and needing to be refreshed. My prayer is that while I am there, I have some downtime, and am able to come home with a clearer goal of what the Lord has in store for me. I go away for myself. I take some mom time. Some may call that selfish, but I call it important.
Moms, I encourage you to do something for you. Take some mom time! It may not be as big as a trip away. Maybe it will be a bubble bath, with the door locked! Or time out to get your hair or nails done. Maybe you would like an hour to read a book, or take a nap! Maybe God has placed something on your heart like an article or book to write, maybe there is a ministry opportunity you have been longing to do. Pray about it, see if that is something that you may fulfill sooner rather than later.
Moms, when we take time for us, we are going to come back into our homes more refreshed, more fulfilled and more joyful. It is okay to take a little time for yourself. By doing so, you will be better equipped to serve your family with joy.
What would you do with some mom time?

So important to take that time for ourselves!
I would love to get to a blogging conference one day, but for now that bubble bath is my retreat. It’s a time for me to regroup and start fresh.

I agree! I do not feel guilty about taking a bubble bath almost every night, locking myself in my room for an hour while the kids watch The Brady Bunch, or even reading a book while they play outside! I need that little bit of quiet time. I am with my kids all day, every day, and while I am so blessed to be able to do this, it can be mentally taxing. When I get my few moments of peace, I am a better mother, wife and teacher.
