Homeschooling is awesome! It really is. We have been at it for over 5 years and I have no plans on stopping anytime soon. However, there are times when I absolutely dread getting up to do another lesson.
I have a love/hate relationship with homeschooling.
I love seeing my kids learn new things!
I hate second guessing whether or not they know “enough”
I love teaching my kids to read!
I hate when they struggle with learning.
I love the smell of new books!
I hate the cost that goes along with those new books…
I love having my kids with me during the day
I hate that some days I know my to-do list would be easier if they were on that big yellow school bus.
The Truth About Homeschooling?
The truth is that for everything that I love about homeschooling, there is something else that I dislike.
So why do we do it? Why do we choose to homeschool?
Bottom line: God called us to it; He will get us through it!
These kids are mine, and the Lord has called us to homeschool. At this point in our lives, this is His calling for our family. And it works!
Does that mean that I have to love every day of homeschooling? NO!
Does that mean that I have to love the struggles, the trials, and the tests? NO!
It means that I have to buckle down and thank God for the good homeschool days, and the bad ones.
It means that even on the ugly days I have to remember that there is nowhere better for our children to learn right now than at home. With me!
It means that even though some days I fail, and even though some days I want to quit, that I need to choose to find joy in our calling to homeschool.
Do you have a love/hate relationship with homeschooling? How do you pull yourself out of the bad days?

Yes! I believe that would be a miracle 🙂

Yep, there are good aspects and bad aspects to homeschooling… and probably to just about everything in life, if we’re honest. But I agree that the good definitely outweighs the bad. It would be nice if we could just trust God to lead us and stop second guessing ourselves, though! 😉 Thanks for sharing!
