For the past three years when October hits, I pack my bags and head off to a blogging conference. I have always come home refreshed and ready to get back to my calling as a mom and blogger.
This year was the first year that that blogging conference was 2:1. When I first heard that the 2:1 conference was going to be in Ohio I almost cried. I was SO EXCITED. I had always wanted to attend 2:1 but the location was never within a good distance from me.
As the time came closer and closer to the conference, I’ll be honest, my excitement turned to nervousness. I no longer really wanted to go. I had contemplated bailing, but obligations told me I had to go.
I reluctantly packed my bags and headed out the door. Now, after I am home, I can tell you that I needed to attend 2:1. God wanted me at 2:1. And, if you are one of these 4 homeschool moms, you need to attend 2:1 too.
The Broken Mom
I came to 2:1 broken. There is no other word for it. My daughter has had some health issues this year, and we were in the process of having her diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I hadn’t talked about it. I hadn’t shared it with anyone. I was carrying a burden that I didn’t need to carry. Carlisha Williams helped me see this in her keynote speech. I shared some about that here.
One of the reasons I didn’t want to attend 2:1 is because of that brokenness. I wanted to hold on to my burden. I had become a hermit of sorts at home. Only coming out when I needed to, and pulling away from all of those who I knew cared for me. I was broken. I needed a healing.
Keynote after keynote spoke to my heart, and on the drive home from the conference, while I was taking everything in, I realized my healing was beginning. Mom, if you are broken, I encourage you to attend the 2:1 conference. God has healing in mind for you, and the whole conference is built on HIS word, and how we can turn to Him. There are prayer sessions, and women who would love to just love on you, pray with you and encourage you. It is the perfect place for a broken homeschool mom to begin healing.
The Special Needs Mom
My healing began at 2:1 after I met another mom who was going through the exact same thing I was going through with my daughter. It was like we both just poured our burdens on to each other. Talking about my child’s special needs, hearing from someone else who “gets” it. Crying with each other, praying for each other. It was something I hadn’t got to experience yet over this situation.
If you are a special needs mom, let me encourage you to attend 2:1. There were sessions geared just towards special needs homeschooling. There were moms there who are dealing with the SAME or similar special needs as you are. You will leave feeling like someone else gets it. You will leave feeling full and ready to tackle special needs homeschooling. I guarantee it.
The Mom Who Needs a BREAK
Homeschool moms have a job that is 24/7. Literally. No yellow school bus. No break room. No co-workers to have an adult conversation with. It’s enough to wear us down quickly. If you never get a moment alone, you need to attend 2:1. Because mom time is important. and you deserve to be able to fill your cup. When we are empty, we are less likely to fill, enjoy and embrace our calling. 2:1 allows us to fill our cups, so we can go home better equipped to handle all that homeschooling throws our way.
The Mom Who Wants to Dream BIG
The 2:1 conference is for homeschool mom bloggers to learn more about blogging, grow their businesses, and serve their readers. Many of these moms make full-time incomes while working part time from home. If you have ever dreamed of being able to do this-attend 2:1. If you are a blogger who has just been writing as a hobby but wants MORE out of your blog-attend 2:1. If you are a blogger who kind of knows what she is doing but dreams of launching a course, writing a book, or taking that next step in your business-attend 2:1. The 2:1 conference is for moms who want to dream big!

Oh girl, yes yes yes! I’m so thankful 2:1 blessed you in these ways. God is faithful to provide exactly what we need when we need it…whether we know we need it or not. 2:1 is such a loving community <3

I’m seriously considering it. It’s sort of a drive… but I could use the encouragement and the camaraderie from other homeschool moms. Wish I had realized that it was in Ohio this year because I DEFINITELY would have gone. Bummer!

Totally understand! Did you see though that tickets are FREE this year? Pay $200 to reserve your ticket and when you arrive you get the $$ back 🙂

I wish I could, but sadly I don’t think it’s going to be in our family funds to do it. 🙁
