On today’s episode, we are talking about our homeschool story. Our journey into homeschooling started with me kicking and screaming, then begging my husband, a public preschool bullying incident, and a stipulation in order for us to continue homeschooling. Yea, it wasn’t the easiest journey!
Why we chose to homeschool is different than why we still homeschool. I share a bit of why we continue homeschooling, and why I believe it is SO important to remember your why.
If you have ever considered homeschooling, or have ever thought about quitting homeschooling you won’t want to miss this episode.

Hi Ashley! We started with Hooked on Phonics with my girls. It was an easy step by step program that anyone can use. However, it didn’t work with my boy. With him, we did the sight word approach. You can read about that here: https://www.findingjoyinthejourney.net/sight-words-vs-phonics/
Hope that helps!

Hi Misty,
In the podcast you said that you taught your 4 yr old to read. Could you tell me how? My son is 4 and we are exploring his education options between private school and homeschool. Today my husband voiced his concern about him learning to read. I was hoping maybe I could get some ideas.
