I love planning for the new school year! There is something about breaking out new books, and starting fresh. The girls love seeing what comes in the mail, and finding out what they will be studying the following year. We are really not changing anything for the next year in regards to our core studies we will be using a lot of the same curriculum and publishers that we did for the 2013-2014 school year. In 2014-2015 my middle will be in 2nd grade, my oldest will be in 4th, and the boy will officially be considered a preschooler! My camera has broke, so I will be using a lot of stock images. The above is the only good one I could get with my phone.

Bible
For our devotionals we will continue on with devotionals for girls. We didn’t get through it last year, and the girls really enjoyed it! They will also participate in our church’s quiz bowl team again. Each week they also memorize a few bible verses. To help with bible memorization we are trying out this copywork program from Sarah at My Joy Filled Life.
Language Arts and Spelling
Both girls will be using Rod and Staff for these subjects.
Reading
The girls love to read and we focus a lot on reading good quality literature. We love reading a read aloud every day. I am not planning these books in advance. I will pick out a few each month from my Pinterest Board and let them choose what we will be reading.
In addition to quality literature, both girls will be working 2 days a week in their grade level Spectrum Reading Books.
Math
Both girls will be using Christian Light Education for this subject. We switched last year for my oldest and have been very pleased.
Handwriting
This will be our first year trying Christian Light Penmanship. We have used Horizons in the past, and while I have been okay with it, I also haven’t been “thrilled” with it. For the price, I figured it was worth a shot to try out CLE.
Science
We have LOVED Apologia, and plan on continuing on with it next school year. We will be moving on to Zoology 2: Water Animals. They are SO excited 🙂
History and Geography
For History, we will continue on with Mystery of History. We finished the first-semester last year, and plan on finishing the second semester this year. In addition to that we will be adding in the Story of the U.S. one day a week, and grade level appropriate Geography two days a week.
Music
My oldest loves music, and theatre. She will have voice lessons and will be performing with our area children’s theatre. Both girls will also be using Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool for Music.
Health
Both girls will be using Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool for Health/PE.
Art
Both girls will be using their grade level Art sold by Christian Light Publications. They will also be using Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool for Art.
Preschool
I am so excited to have someone on one with the boy doing preschool. We plan on starting out lightly with Little Hands to Heaven. I am not 100% sure he will be ready for it, but we are going to give it a shot!
So, there you have it! A peek into what we plan on using for the 2014-2015 school year!
What do you plan on using this coming school year? Any else using some of the same homeschool curricula as us?

Your welcome! Check back next week because I will be sharing my top 3 curriculum picks. One of which *may* be Apologia 🙂

I love reading other homeschoolers’ impressions of the curriculum they used. I’ve been curious about Apologia. I may check it out after hearing your experience with it.
Wishing you a lovely day.

Your list looks great! We’re using Mystery of History this year as well as Rod and Staff for grammar. Still looking for a good 4th grade computer-based math program for Lily.

Thanks Emily! Alyson really struggled with spelling. She is NOT a natural speller. She has done great with the program! Kristen is a natural speller, and she is doing great with it too. She is working ahead, Alyson is working at grade level. If Olivia is a natural speller it would be a good idea to bump up a grade, otherwise stay with the grade she is in.

Olivia is going on to third grade this coming year. We haven’t found the right curriculum for spelling for her. She struggles in this area. I have considered Rod and Staff but I wasn’t sure. Is it a curriculum for kids who pick up on it easily or would it work for one who struggles with spelling also? Thanks! The blog looks nice! Emily
