I have a saying I share with my kids before we go somewhere it is “be a blessing, not a burden”. What it means, is act in a way that people will want to invite you back. Be willing to help, have a smile on your face, and choose to be a blessing to those around you. This time of year is a great time to do just that and #spreadthecheer!
One of the things we wanted to do to bless others this holiday season is have a bake sale to raise funds for a local animal shelter and also share some of our treats with those we felt could use some extra cheer this holiday season.
So we hosted a big baking party! The kids enjoyed baking and we enjoyed sharing the blessing with others 🙂
If you would like to try baking with kids and bless others this holiday season I want to share a few tips that can make the day a lot easier!
- Betty Crocker cookie mixes are a must! Especially when you have a lot of baking to do 🙂 These easy cookie mixes make it simple for kids to help bake! They also have coupons to save you money!
- Aprons will help keep you and the kiddos from ruining your clothes!
- Step stools are a great way for the kids to reach high countertops.
- Plastic bowls and mixing spoons will ensure that nothing is broken in the baking process!
We love to bake, and cookies are one of our favorite treats. We started off by heading to our local Walmart to purchase these Betty Crocker cookie mixes. We had a LOT of baking to do and these simple mixes made our baking day a lot easier!
Once we were done we were set for the bake sale! We also were set to bless a few lucky friends in the process 🙂
You can bless others as well this holiday season! Grab a Betty Crocker cookie mix and bake some treats for someone who would truly appreciate it! Maybe a local shut in who can’t make it out to church. Maybe your Pastor, or a mom who just had a baby. Have a friend who has been down in spirit? Treat her and her family to a cookie dessert 🙂
I encourage you and your kids to be a blessing to someone this coming holiday season. Once you do, feel free to share it with the hashtag #SpreadCheer and encourage others to pass the blessing on 🙂
By doing this you will be entered into a chance to win your own Betty Crocker cookies giving you a chance to #SpreadCheer in your neighborhood! To enter just share your story (tag me I want to see it!) on social media using @Betty Crocker and the hashtag #SpreadCheer!

I love getting in the kitchen with my children. There is so much to learn and so much fun to be had.
