Are you a type A momma? Me too! But, one thing I have had to learn is how to let go of control and embrace the imperfections that come along with joyfully homeschooling.
Today’s Joyfully Homeschooling episode is with my good friend Lara from Everyday Graces.
Lara is the homeschool mentor, writer, and main coffee drinker behind Everyday Graces Homeschool, a resource for encouragement and ideas to create grace-filled and thriving homeschools. When she’s not homeschooling or wrangling chickens, you can find her on Facebook (Everyday Graces Homeschool) and Instagram (@LarasPlace).
Lara and I shared a booth space together last year in Atlanta, and are real-life friends. So, we spend some time catching up in this episode.
One thing I love about Lara is that she is open and real with special needs struggles and learning challenges. We tackle these topics in this episode as well as how to respond gently to our children. I know this episode will encourage you, so, without further ado, let’s get on to my episode with Lara.
Be sure to listen to the whole episode. This is just a small snippet of our conversation.
What is one struggle or fear you have had regarding homeschooling?
Homeschooling brought with it so many fears. The biggest one being messing up her kids. Recognizing God moments helped to overcome this fear.
How have you overcome it? Or are you still working on it
I love the response Lara gives here. A gentle answer turns away wrath. Look for the little things as they go throughout the day. Learning challenges compound this struggle.
What is ONE thing you have learned as a homeschool mom
Ooooh, mommas take heart here! In spite of our type A personalities we are NOT in control!!
How do you find joy in your homeschool day?
Lara shares the meaning behind her blog Everyday Graces and how little moments have helped her find joy in homeschooling.
My big take away
I struggle so much with control and am learning to let go, and trust God with my kids, our homeschool, and my life <3
